Senior Analog & Mixed Signal Layout Design Engineer
Be loud. Say what you think, argue for what you believe is right.
WHAT DO YOU DO?
I'm a physical design engineer, currently working on in-chip monitoring systems for Silicon Life Managment platform at Synopsys.
Outside of my working hours I spend my time travelling, cooking and serving my spoiled pet rabbit.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS FIELD?
I studied Biomedical Engineering with Informatics and Electronics as my two majors. Originally I wanted to design medical equipment, but during my masters someone referred my candidacy for a layout design position. I got in and it clicked instantly. Years later I can't imagine doing anything else!
HOW DO/DID YOU TACKLE OBSTACLES?
"I don't know, but I will find out". Sometimes it's learning new skill, sometimes talking with someone I don't like... the process might not always be pleasant, but at the end of the day I go to sleep knowing something new.
WHAT DO YOU LOOK AT & THINK, "I WISH YOUNGER ME WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS WAS POSSIBLE?"
There were a few amazing opportunities that I didn't take because I was too scared at that time. I don't regret anything, where I am now is a pretty great place, but I wish I took more risks when I was younger.
WHY DO YOU LOVE WORKING IN STEM?
Working in STEM gives me unbelievable sense of accomplishment. I can point at something and say "I did that. I made that possible". I wake up to design a little part of the future, I get to work with amazing people from all over the world. What could be cooler than this?
BEST ADVICE FOR NEXT GENERATION?
Be loud. Say what you think, argue for what you believe it's right. Not everyone will like that, but you're not a pizza and that's ok.
One man's "magic" is another man's engineering.
