For all the girls who dream about science, go for it. You are the future of this world, and the reins are in your hands to do something incredible.

WHAT DO YOU DO?

I have recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering and a minor in Business Management. Presently, I am working with Deloitte as the Solution Delivery Analyst in the sphere of Cyber & Strategic Risk. My role is to provide end-to-end business solutions using technology and data-driven methodologies. This involves risk mitigation, data visualization, analytics, robotic process automation, and the design and implementation of Identity & Access Management projects.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS FIELD?

At the age when we begin to observe and respond to things around us, I was always intrigued by the 'How' & 'Why' aspect of it. My parents and tutors have sustained and encouraged my curiosity to the point where the magnitude of inspiration led me to pursue science and technology. It was as if I had fallen in love with this field, and then there was no turning back. This has given me an opportunity to learn something new every day, and I am grateful to my mentors and teachers who have motivated me all my life. Not only did I develop a profound interest in this field, but also I am prolifically good at it. Striving to design and learn from ingenious solutions has given me the courage to pursue STEM, and I believe there is nothing to stop us from reaching the stars.

HOW DO/DID YOU TACKLE OBSTACLES?

'A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor' there is no journey without a few hurdles. Rather, I think that these impediments enable us to realize the essence of our journey. From the moment we begin our journey, we start learning and adapting to life. I learned that despite how liberal we think we are, there are always preconceived notions and prejudices that can be unlearned. Since the beginning, I observed a ubiquitous trend: the number of boys exceeded the number of girls in almost all STEM-related careers at an alarming ratio of 8:2. This was the harsh assumption until recently that men are more interested and good at STEM. Women accounted for just 29% of the workforce in science and engineering, according to the recent reports about gender trends in diverse fields. This deeply saddens me; the ingrained stereotypes and prejudices in our thinking have precluded opportunities for women in pursuing STEM-related careers. It is a complete misapprehension that women can't achieve great things, there are so many instances where women outperformed men. I espouse gender equality in every arena because this disparity will crush the economic growth and progress in this world.

WHAT DO YOU LOOK AT & THINK, "I WISH YOUNGER ME WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS WAS POSSIBLE?"

All I would want the younger me to know that - challenge yourself and take your chances because, on the other side of fear, there is a multitude of opportunities, experiences, and a wonderful set of people waiting for you. It's progress that matters, not perfection!

WHY DO YOU LOVE WORKING IN STEM?

What I love about STEM is that the limits are boundless. There are a million things that are yet to be discovered. I ardently look forward to the challenges encompassing in this field that involve critical thinking, business acumen, and strategy. The ability to work on cutting-edge technologies and explore innovative solutions to real-world problems motivates me to make every effort and do my best every day! I enjoy exploring intersections between technology, business, and social impact. I desire to combine my technical background and passion for management to transcend the bar of excellence and achieve a sustainable impact in order to make the world a better and more efficient place. STEM has made a huge difference in my life, and if I can help and play a small part in inspiring young girls to pursue their passion and dreams, I'll consider my work worth every second of it.

BEST ADVICE FOR NEXT GENERATION?

For all the girls who dream about science, go for it. You are the future of this world, and the reins are in your hands to do something incredible. It is an honor to pursue STEM, and it's the most fabulous job in this world. There is always something new to learn and innovate. The right amount of passion and tenacity for what you want will inspire you to take a small step towards a big difference. Never give up! You've got all the resources and support you need; just keep going! Life is all about the chances we take and what we make out of them.
