Amaia Albizua Aguinaco

Researcher, Environmental Agency of the Basque Government

You are able to do as much as you can imagine.

What do you do?

I design, revise and supervise environmental-related research and disseminate it.

Why did you choose this field?

When I was a child I was already very sensitive to environmental issues and loved being in nature. I remember once I wrote a letter to Greenpeace (I was around 10 years old) to get information and affiliate. When I had to decide what to study I was clear about what my passion was and decided to study environmental science.

What do you look at and think, "I wish younger me would have known this was possible"?

Not sure yet!

Why do you love working in STEM?

Non-stop learning and answers to curiosity.

Best advice for next generation?

You are able to do as much as you can imagine and if you work hard. Not attaining some of your objectives is also one of the most important learning processes.
