What do you do?
I run a company where we work on new treatments for disease using synthetic biology. My job involves working with the team to advance our programs, communicate our science and address challenges.
Why did you choose this field?
I was trained as a physician and never expected to enjoy drug development but within 6 months of taking my first job at a biotech company, I knew I had found a challenging career and a field I love.
What do you look at and think, "I wish younger me would have known this was possible"?
Growing up and in training, I thoughts careers were linear and certain. I now know that the most interesting and fulfilling careers emerge when you follow your passion and pursue opportunities where you will learn new skills and challenge yourself.
Why do you love working in STEM?
I love a challenge and a puzzle and I have never stopped learning. There is so much opportunity to learn and to make a positive impact on the world through STEM.
