WHAT DO YOU DO?
I started this journey nearly a year ago after working in Commercial Finance for the last six years. Being a qualified Chartered Accountant, I know how difficult and confusing it is for an individual with a non-financial background - and more specifically millennials or gen Z - to manage their finances especially during these uncertain times. Being a millennial who has 'been there, done that', my passion has always been to empower the younger generations to make better financial decisions for their lives because one of the shortest ways to wealth is getting your finances together as early as possible.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS FIELD?
I was drawn to finance since high school where my majors were mathematics and technology. aircrex Pty Ltd is 100% owned and operated by women. We started building this dream last year with a group of female professionals who have had years of experience in commercial finance and business operations. We are currently proving to the world that women can create big things in the financial sector and help thousands of the younger generation to better manage their finances.
WHAT DO YOU LOOK AT & THINK, "I WISH YOUNGER ME WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS WAS POSSIBLE?"
My biggest achievement to date is starting aircrex. I was also invited to the "Leader of Tomorrow" at the 50th St. Gallen Symposium in Switzerland to pitch the business idea. If I could turn back time, I wish I would have started this earlier as the earlier our message is sent to younger generations, the quicker they can achieve their financial goals.
WHY DO YOU LOVE WORKING IN STEM?
Because I believe women can be great leaders in this male-dominated field. I am here to close the gap of gender inequality in the financial sector as increasing women’s access to and use of financial services can have both economic and societal benefits.
BEST ADVICE FOR NEXT GENERATION?
Just do it and you can do it. Be bold, be persistent and never give up.
