Support Engineer for LumApps
Do not be afraid of be different ... because normal is boring.
WHAT DO YOU DO?
I am a support engineer. I am helping companies using our intranet. I am working closely with the customer success and the developers to make sure our clients can use our intranet smoothly.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS FIELD?
I found it challenging to be the first engineer in my family. I am the first generation in my family to do high studies. My family escaped Vietnam 30 years ago to live a new life in France and I was born in France. My parents worked very hard all their lives to make sure their 3 daughters will not need anything and will be fine. When I had to choose my career I couldn't think of anything else than to be an engineer to make them proud.
WHAT DO YOU LOOK AT & THINK, "I WISH YOUNGER ME WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS WAS POSSIBLE?"
What I would like to say to younger me is not to be afraid of the unknown. I was really scared to live abroad far from my family and my hometown. It took me 22 years to finally leave my hometown and to live abroad. My first experience was my 6 months internship in Singapore. It was followed by 6 months in Munich, then 6 months in Ho Chi Minh city. Finally, I am here in New York where I started my first job !!
WHY DO YOU LOVE WORKING IN STEM?
I like working in STEM because it is very diverse and always evolving. You can always learn new thing and you never stop being surprised of what can be achieved. I am looking forward to use my skills in STEM to help people communicating better.
BEST ADVICE FOR NEXT GENERATION?
My advice would be not to be afraid of be different ... because normal is boring.
