PhD student, Lancaster University
Don’t stop trying, no matter what people say.
WHAT DO YOU DO?
I do research into potential DNA binding agents that can be used to fight diseases such as cancer.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS FIELD?
I’ve always been interested in medical uses of chemistry. My grandfather passed away from cancer when I was 17 and I never got to see him before he died. From that day on, I vowed to go on to fight cancer. I also really love chemistry and doing active research in a lab!
WHAT DO YOU LOOK AT & THINK, "I WISH YOUNGER ME WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS WAS POSSIBLE?"
Graduating with a masters degree in chemistry. I never thought I would get the grades to go to university in the first place, and now I’m writing my PhD thesis!
WHY DO YOU LOVE WORKING IN STEM?
Finding the answers to questions no one else has found.
BEST ADVICE FOR NEXT GENERATION?
Don’t listen to the people who say you can’t. Anyone can apply themselves to the things they love. Don’t stop trying, no matter what people say.
