Don’t be put off by the belief you aren’t strong in every area of STEM.

WHAT DO YOU DO?

I work in chronic disease management finding virtual interventions for chronic disease management.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS FIELD?

I have a BSc in Microbiology followed by an MSc in Biotechnology and Business. Throughout that time I did clinical research in Cystic Fibrosis and became really interested in chronic disease.

WHAT DO YOU LOOK AT & THINK, "I WISH YOUNGER ME WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS WAS POSSIBLE?"

Going back into research in chronic disease even after losing my mum to Cystic Fibrosis. I did not think I would ever be strong enough after losing her to keep going with a subject so close to my heart but she gave me the strength.

WHY DO YOU LOVE WORKING IN STEM?

I love a challenge and working in STEM is an endless challenge. There are so many unknowns and things yet to be discovered or understood and that’s exciting.

BEST ADVICE FOR NEXT GENERATION?

Don’t be put off by the belief you aren’t strong in every area of STEM. I’m terrible at Math and still managed every lab calculation I ever needed!
