It is okay to be wrong or not know the answer.
WHAT DO YOU DO?
I teach future scientists how chemistry is involved in their future careers, like medical doctors and medical care workers.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS FIELD?
Since I was a little girl I always wanted to know how the world works. Chemistry helps answer some of those questions. Why do the leaves change color in the fall? Why does coffee taste bitter? I went to an all-girls science camp where I was introduced to chemistry.
WHAT DO YOU LOOK AT & THINK, "I WISH YOUNGER ME WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS WAS POSSIBLE?"
I wish younger me knew that being a person of color PhD was important and I can impact so many lives.
WHY DO YOU LOVE WORKING IN STEM?
I enjoy teaching all STEM. I enjoy the introduction of STEM to infants and toddlers. I look forward to helping someone realize their potential in the sciences and their future career.
BEST ADVICE FOR NEXT GENERATION?
It is okay to be wrong or not know the answer. That is what science is all about. Also, do not ever let anyone tell you you should not do STEM because of your gender, race, or sexuality.
