WHAT DO YOU DO?
I assess the product performance of beauty products from an expert and sensory perspective. The intention is to ensure that not only that the products are safe but that they are effective, efficient and meet the consumers needs.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS FIELD?
I discovered this field by accident. I was in a medical science program and while I was there I met a chemist who worked for a beauty company. Knowing that I have always been passionate about beauty and science, I decided to take a 180 and pursue this field.
WHAT DO YOU LOOK AT & THINK, "I WISH YOUNGER ME WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS WAS POSSIBLE?"
Although my graduate program was in biomedical science, it is still prepare me for my first role as a scientist and chemist. Looking back I think it would have been interesting to pursue a product science program.
WHY DO YOU LOVE WORKING IN STEM?
I like to be stimulated and learn new things. Every day is a new adventure.
BEST ADVICE FOR NEXT GENERATION?
Do your research and explore all the possible fields out there. There are so many more fields today than before. Also, always stay active in your field and STEM.

When times are hard to keep moving forward, take one more step passed halfway. You won’t turn around as the path forward is now shorter than the path backwards.
