What do you do?
I am a research scientist working in materials for biomedical applications.
Why did you choose this field?
At school, I was in love with chemistry and biology. I fell in love with materials after I got introduced to it at NIT Rourkela, India. I love the interdisciplinary and dynamic environment this field of research provides.
What do you look at and think, "I wish younger me would have known this was possible"?
Coming from a tiny village of Pakyong, Sikkim India where having constant electricity was a struggle to my journey at NIT Rourkela where I secured a silver medal from then President APJ Abdul Kalam to my journey in the USA for my Ph.D. and now as a research scientist here, I think I would like to just give a big thumbs up to my younger self and say this is just a beginning!!!!
Why do you love working in STEM?
I love to create things, I love the interaction of different chemicals are so unique and you can tailor the properties by making small modifications.
Best advice for next generation?
Trying to find something that you love because when other external challenges come in life you can go back to that pure passion of why you do what you do!!!
