What do you do?
I am researching ways to reduce muscle loss occurring as we age and how exercise can help.
Why did you choose this field?
At school I really enjoyed science and biology in particular. At university I studied biomedical science and really enjoyed learning about how the human body works particularly how it changes with age and exercise. I realised I wanted to have a research career to find out more and carry out experiments in a lab.
What do you look at and think, "I wish younger me would have known this was possible"?
Going abroad to present my research to people from all over the world and having it published in a journal for experts to read
Why do you love working in STEM?
I love learning new things! Everyday is different and you can find the answer an unsolved question.
Best advice for next generation?
Don’t let other people’s opinions stop you from doing what you enjoy. It is important you are happy and enjoy what you are doing to be more successful
