Elizabeth K Pritchard
Director, Co-Founder, Researcher
If you have that voice inside you that says 'I want to change the world' keep listening to it.
WHAT DO YOU DO?
I coach and train women researchers and academics in STEMM to achieve success, to be heard, to be confident and to reach higher than they ever thought possible.
I work with women who have the challenge of limited career progression, not being heard and compromised confidence to stand up and lead, regardless of gender, role or culture.
I get to translate research into practice to develop awesome leaders - this means all of us, as we all need to first lead ourselves and then others regardless what job title or role we have!
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS FIELD?
I began in allied health as an occupational therapist, because I wanted to make a difference in the world and help empower others to problem solve strategies so they could live their best life, regardless of disease or impairment they may be facing.
I specialised in neurological rehab and later moved into lecturing and tutoring in Leadership and Management.
I then launched into a PhD to learn research principles and develop expertise in running qualitative research social science projects. I became Co-founder and Director of WALT Institute to help women get promoted, have stronger collaborations for research grants, and lead successful teams with strength.
I have overcome many set-backs, personal trauma and displacement from support systems to find my new tribe, thrive and flourish, continue with perseverance, grit and determination, and always find a way!
WHAT DO YOU LOOK AT & THINK, "I WISH YOUNGER ME WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS WAS POSSIBLE?"
My greatest achievement is knowing and believing that 'I am ENOUGH'! I do not have to seek approval from others, I do not have to always say yes, I do not have to 'sell my soul' to fit into other people's expectations.
When we identify our Authentic self, and understand the power that each of us has within us, we are truly unstoppable! We will rise above, shine bright and accomplish the most amazing things if we open up to the limitless opportunities that are out there for EVERYONE!
WHY DO YOU LOVE WORKING IN STEM?
I love working in STEM and with the people I coach and train because they are here on this planet to make a difference. They are making a difference in health and the lives of millions of people on this planet in their own individual way.
We are all about innovation, creativity, curiosity and determined to find a way.
I wake up early each day with my morning routine to set myself up to be at my best, so that I can give my best to every single person I connect with each day. I look forward to giving value to each and every person our company connects with so they too, can be the best version of who they are, every single day!
BEST ADVICE FOR NEXT GENERATION?
If you have that voice inside you that says 'I want to change the world' keep listening to it. Do not let ANYONE say that your ideas are dumb, or that you won't be able to do it.
I had this voice in my head as a 4 year old - 'I want to change the world'. I didn't know how but now when I work with the clients in our business, I am changing the world.
I am helping each individual to believe in themselves that much more, to have the strategies to lead themselves and their teams with more confidence, skills and strength. I am changing the world, little piece by little piece, YOU CAN TOO!
