Aim high, if anyone says you can’t do this, prove them wrong.
WHAT DO YOU DO?
I attend the sickest patients, either medical or trauma. We have a greater skill set than other paramedics and have undergone extensive training in how to use this skill set to aid our patients. From sedation to crew management we aim to bring the best skills to the roadside.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS FIELD?
My mum and sister both have nursing backgrounds. My sister in the emergency department, her stories always fascinated me, but I didn’t want to be a nurse, I wanted something different. I started as a technician in the ambulance service and worked my way up.
WHAT DO YOU LOOK AT & THINK, "I WISH YOUNGER ME WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS WAS POSSIBLE?"
My critical care qualification, Ive wanted to do this for a few years and now I am! It’s a lot of work, but it’s possible for everyone
WHY DO YOU LOVE WORKING IN STEM?
You never know what your day will involve.
BEST ADVICE FOR NEXT GENERATION?
Aim high, if anyone says you can’t do this, prove them wrong.
