My first degree was in chemical engineering, but with the oil boom in Nigeria I decided I wanted to be in oil and gas and thus got an advanced degree in petroleum engineering, I started my career in reservoir engineering with Dubai Petroleum. I moved back to Nigeria and joined a start up Independent Indigenous upstream E&P company that was still trying to build up Drilling/ well engineering entity. I joined as a well operations engineer. I soon realized how very few women were in the industry and in drilling engineering I was the only female on the field and rig most times, it motivated me to push and challenge myself even though I had to work extra hard to prove myself everyday but I was confident and it was worth it, I also had a great boss who had joined from Exxon and was a really good mentor, in building my experience in well planning, well (Drilling) engineering, well operations and with time I started managing the entire well delivery process as a senior well engineer.
