I would love to see more girls, especially from India, coming forward to making a change in all ways possible.
WHAT DO YOU DO?
I work for JoVE, and particularly am involved in reading and researching on biochemistry related work going on in different parts of the world. I am also responsible for reaching out to Scientists and approaching them to be a part of our journal.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS FIELD?
Currently involved in the field of academic publishing, my main aim is to pursue a PhD in Biological Sciences. I chose this field particularly in my school days itself. Science has always been my passion and I knew I needed the Dr. initials without actually being one (read sarcasm here). I aim to bring a difference in the Scientific research and publishing fraternity via my work.
WHAT DO YOU LOOK AT & THINK, "I WISH YOUNGER ME WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS WAS POSSIBLE?"
I have no regrets and have been extremely happy with my growth as a human being, as an individual and as a student. Marks do matter, but not the most. I would really like my younger self to know how difficult it is to enjoy life once you get busy, so make the most out of school and college days, and remember to be in touch with friends and family always!
WHY DO YOU LOVE WORKING IN STEM?
STEM empowers me as an individual. For me, everything in and around me is pure science. I wake up only to look forward to reading something new everyday, and my job also allows me to do so! Oh and also some cool jokes on how non-science(read nonsense) people become self-proclaimed scientists!
BEST ADVICE FOR NEXT GENERATION?
Being a #WomaninSTEM, I feel proud of all the people of our fraternity, especially girls who have brought some next level changes. I would love to see more girls, especially from India, coming forward to making a change in all ways possible.
INSPO / FUN FACT
My name includes Kaur which in our religion means a princess. I have this self-made quote and hashtag that reads #kaurageouskaur! (Courageous princess)
