Test Manager, LifeFlow

In each job I am able to use the skills I have and learn the rest.

What do you do?

I work as Test Manager for software products, currently in medical industry. Together with programmers, the test team needs to make sure that we deliver a high quality product. My field is to organize the test team's work - to plan, prepare and run different scenarios in the application to check the quality. This is very often just acting as the application user to check if it is possible to use the application without problems.

Why did you choose this field?

To be honest everything happened a little bit by accident. I was working in different industry when I received a job proposal for a software tester position. I was not sure if this was for me but working in IT seemed to be an interesting change and I decided to give it a try.

What do you look at and think, "I wish younger me would have known this was possible"?

I always thought that technology is not for me and I didn't even think about working in more "technical" jobs. In each job I am able to use the skills I have and learn the rest.

Why do you love working in STEM?

You cannot be bored when working in the dynamic environment as IT is. And now when I have the possibility to work for medical software, I know that I can be part of a change that brings value for other people.

Best advice for next generation?

Don't be afraid if something sounds too complicated. You can do this and you can work on interesting stuff that influences others and the world around us.

And as my example shows - even if you are educated in other field - there is always a possibility to learn new things and take another path.

Inspo quote / fun fact / role model

I remember my first reaction when I received the proposal to work as a software tester. My thoughts were - testing an application - sounds boring. Will I have contact with other people or I will be just spending time looking at the app? I am glad I decided to try and now I see how wrong I was.
