WHAT DO YOU DO?
I am over the life science team in Ecotek laboratory. As the leader I help facilitate others projects, delegate duties, teach the team how to use instruments, aseptic techniques , act as liaison to the administrator.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS FIELD?
I chose this field because I always had a love for science. When I joined Ecotek I realized that there was a deeper meaning to science. My first actual realization that I loved science was when I blew the microwave up warming up agar and i had to create my own that Istill use in emergencies.
WHAT DO YOU LOOK AT & THINK, "I WISH YOUNGER ME WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS WAS POSSIBLE?"
When i was younger I used to be shy and afraid of public speaking. Back in ninth grade I became more confident with myself after practicing doing more and more presentations. My biggest accomplishment is participating in the World Food Prize Youth Institute where I had to present my research on Micronutrient Supplements to combat malnutrition in Zimbabwe.
WHY DO YOU LOVE WORKING IN STEM?
I love working in STEM because it allows me to be creative and problem solve and think outside the box. When I wake up I look forward to finding new ways to do different things in the lab to integrate in my everyday life.
BEST ADVICE FOR NEXT GENERATION?
Don't be afraid to take risk. Do what you love and what makes you feel happy!
