Push past those gender stereotypes!

WHAT DO YOU DO?

As a Flight Systems Engineer, my job involves designing, developing and supporting a range of aircraft flight critical systems.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS FIELD?

During school I enjoyed Maths and the Mechanical aspects of Physics. On a week away with my family during the Summer holidays we happened upon an airshow. I remember being in awe of the aircraft I saw and that airshow inspired me to pursue a Masters degree in Aerospace Systems Engineering.

WHAT DO YOU LOOK AT & THINK, "I WISH YOUNGER ME WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS WAS POSSIBLE?"

Achieving recognition for projects I've been involved in at work and being selected for the Northern Power Women Future List 2020.

WHY DO YOU LOVE WORKING IN STEM?

I love working in STEM because my day to day work varies. I have worked on various aircraft as a Flight Systems Engineer and each role has been different with different challenges which have been motivating and built upon my skills. I'm always learning and improving.

BEST ADVICE FOR NEXT GENERATION?

To the next generation of girls in STEM I would say make the most of opportunities given to you and push past those gender stereotypes!

INSPO / FUN FACT
