Don't be afraid to take control of your own career path.

What do you do?

I work on cutting edge technology, designing solutions with the human user in mind. I make sure the many different elements of a solution integrate and work together seamlessly.

Why did you choose this field?

WheI was younger, I didn't know what Enigeering was. It was a Physics teacher who suggested that Engineering would suit me, and enrolled me and some other classmates on to an Engineering Education Scheme. I learnt that I enjoyed many aspects of Engineering, and mostly the problem solving aspect, and I've not looked back since!

What do you look at and think, "I wish younger me would have known this was possible"?

I had the opportunity to present my work to several government officials, and high ranking military delegates. I thought I'd never be able to do something like that, and I was so nervous, but they understood my work and I received really positive feedback.

Why do you love working in STEM?

For me, it's the variety within my role. Every week is different, and I'm never bored as there's always another challenge to tackle. I love working with many different people too.

Best advice for next generation?

Don't be afraid to take control of your own career path. Everyone is different and that's what makes good Engineers! Look to others for inspiration, but understand that their paths are not necessarily right for you.
