WHAT DO YOU DO?
I teach kids to be engineers and I look into ways to have clean air around us.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS FIELD?
Growing up in North India, I always felt that there is a need to reduce pollution around us (maybe air, water, solid waste, etc), thats the reason I pursued environmental engineering as a Masters subject. I did Masters from US and came back and happened to settle in Delhi. Delhi being so polluted drove me to do a PhD in air pollution and thats what I am currently pursuing.
WHAT DO YOU LOOK AT & THINK, "I WISH YOUNGER ME WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS WAS POSSIBLE?"
When I was younger, I was not sure about the impact academia may have in the society. I was always lured towards the corporate life. After being in corporate for few years and realizing the potential of academia, I got back to my first love - academics. I wish I had known this earlier.
WHY DO YOU LOVE WORKING IN STEM?
I am yet to join STEM. The reason I want to join STEM is I want to connect to women in science and talk to them about their struggles, learn from them how they overcame the struggles and get motivated.
