Assistant Manager, Tata Consultancy Services
Be fearless with your dreams.
WHAT DO YOU DO?
I am responsible for predicting loss (credit, market and operational) for banks and financial institutions during unforeseen circumstances. I am responsible for developing and validating predictive models using statistical analysis tools and high level programming languages like Python.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS FIELD?
I was pursuing my engineering degree when the subprime crisis shook the world. I started reading up a lot on all financial decisions taken up wrongly and about ways the crisis could have been avoided. Gradually, I developed a keen interest in financial due diligence and risk management. I pursued my MBA in Banking and Financial Services and got a chance to serve in Ernst&Young as a consultant, thinking of solutions to avoid financial risk.
WHAT DO YOU LOOK AT & THINK, "I WISH YOUNGER ME WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS WAS POSSIBLE?"
I wish younger me was not petrified to ask questions. I wish younger me worked hard without thinking of failure. Because right now, when I look back, I feel failures taught me the best lessons.
WHY DO YOU LOVE WORKING IN STEM?
STEM comprises of a community with women from the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and these women thrive on ideas and thoughts coming from each other. I look forward to being able to contribute in a significant way and hope we all together make a strong community looking to share some ground-breaking ideas.
BEST ADVICE FOR NEXT GENERATION?
My advice to them would be to be fearless with your dreams.
