WHAT DO YOU DO?
I am a Modern Day Software Tester. This means that I collaborate a lot with different teams to continuously improve the quality culture, define the suitable testing strategy, write automated tests and mentor team members with regards to testing best practices.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS FIELD?
Within my family, mostly everyone works in the healthcare industry and while it's a great option, I wanted to do something different. I was always fascinated with technology so I decided to study a STEM subject. During our final year project, I was doing the testing and I enjoyed doing it so I decided to pursue a career within Software Testing.
WHAT DO YOU LOOK AT & THINK, "I WISH YOUNGER ME WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS WAS POSSIBLE?"
I am putting myself forward to things that I never thought I would do before which to me is an achievement already. To my younger self, amplify your voice, you'll be surprised as to how it can help you.
WHY DO YOU LOVE WORKING IN STEM?
I love working in STEM because I get to work with different people from different areas of the business. As a Software Tester, we often wear multiple hats to adapt continuously. Being in STEM allowed me to become a tech blogger where I get to share my learnings to the wider tech community, which also led to other opportunities that is helping me grow personally.
BEST ADVICE FOR NEXT GENERATION?
Don't be afraid, use different platforms to amplify your voice - it might be daunting at the beginning but just trust the process. Remember, we are here to support you along the way!
