Working in a STEM field will guarantee you'll never get bored!

WHAT DO YOU DO?

I lead a research group which works to understand the causes of asthma and other lung diseases in women.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS FIELD?

I was initially intrigued by how many diseases are only studied using male models. Then I found out that this results in very poor outcomes and failure of treatment in women; so I wanted to help bridge that disparity.

WHAT DO YOU LOOK AT & THINK, "I WISH YOUNGER ME WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS WAS POSSIBLE?"

Basically everything that happened in my professional life! I still can't believe I am a professor in the US. Younger me couldn't even dream of being a professional, nor to even travel to this country.

WHY DO YOU LOVE WORKING IN STEM?

I love that I get to work with people who are passionate and have diverse backgrounds.

BEST ADVICE FOR NEXT GENERATION?

Working in a STEM field will guarantee you'll never get bored! There are constant discoveries and surprises, and that's exciting.
