Don't ever think you aren't smart enough!
WHAT DO YOU DO?
I'm an organic chemist! I aim to reconstruct molecules made by nature in the lab, using tiny little building blocks. Think of it like architecture on the molecular level!
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS FIELD?
I have always been amazed by science, especially chemistry. I was that kid who ran reactions naked in her bathtub! My parents also have a mild STEM background so they nurtured that curiosity. When I hit high school I really got hooked and got accepted into my dream chemistry program.
WHAT DO YOU LOOK AT & THINK, "I WISH YOUNGER ME WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS WAS POSSIBLE?"
Moving overseas alone for my studies! This was a huge step but I am so happy I took the opportunity.
WHY DO YOU LOVE WORKING IN STEM?
I love learning how things work! For me, chemistry (especially organic) is at that frontier between physics and biology.
I wake up looking forward to making new molecules!
BEST ADVICE FOR NEXT GENERATION?
Don't ever think you aren't smart enough! We need all kinds of people to approach a problem in all kinds of ways. Be proud of your path and your experiences!
