What do you do?
Predicting the future ! I believe in the fact that given the right set of resources and our knowledge, we can develop extraordinary solutions to any problem at hand. With the help of my masters program and prior work experience, I work to provide end to end solutions to business problems beginning from ideation to delivering insightful results by leveraging the machine learning algorithms and predictive analytics.
Why did you choose this field?
While pursuing my bachelors, I devoted my time to studies and extra curriculars equally. I played basketball and was a part of a non - profit organisation Leo Club during undergraduate course for all the 4 years and collected so much lessons along the way. When I started working after graduating in 2015, there was this real world where we have to work and learn. Those two years of learning to work, made me realize what I wanted to become. I was working on front end development of e-commerce websites and I knew I could do so much more. Four years back I was in Mumbai and we call it the city of dreams. And I started dreaming big. I found data science interesting and my mind used to start racing whenever I used to come across new advancements that were being made in the field and I had love for math since I was a kid. I started preparing for my TOEFL and GRE exams along with my work and got selected in the Technical University of Munich for the Masters Course of Mathematics in Data Science. I am about to graduate now and this experience has pushed me so much beyond my limits but it was all worth it.
What do you look at and think, "I wish younger me would have known this was possible"?
Younger me would have never dreamt of me leaving my country, people I love to accomplish something that I wanted for myself. They all are so proud today and so am I ! The best accomplishment that I am about to achieve is getting a patent for my master thesis research. Siemens has been amazing for me and I am really excited for what lies ahead
Why do you love working in STEM?
Every day is a new learning .I have a mantra to feed myself good diet, not just of food but emotional as well as mental. Being a part of STEM, I always have the have something new to learn each and everyday. My work and my studies are all guiding me to be better technologist and even a better person. The work culture in Munich is great and people respect you and your work. It helps us blend in and learn from each other at the same time.
Best advice for next generation?
What one can do with STEM is endless. Us girls have so much potential, we don’t even know ourselves. I want the girls to want to learn and envision a soceity where they are confident, brave and independent. STEM opens up the horizon to vast amount of areas of interest. Choose what you want to do and believe you can, the world will follow your lead 🙂
