Biomedical Scientist; designing, creating and interpreting experiments that forward research in my field
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS FIELD?
At school I was always interested in how the body worked and the mechanisms behind it and was lucky enough to channel the passion into what I do daily.
WHAT DO YOU LOOK AT & THINK, "I WISH YOUNGER ME WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS WAS POSSIBLE?"
Working in an institute with a sole focus in finding better treatments for cancer and being part of this cutting edge research.
WHY DO YOU LOVE WORKING IN STEM?
My favourite aspect of this work is being able to work jointly in an independent and collaborative environment while constantly learning. It has been invaluable to my personal and professional development.
BEST ADVICE FOR NEXT GENERATION?
Follow your passion. You spend the majority of your adult life working so it has to feel right for you. On the flip side, don't put too much pressure on yourself.
INSPO / FUN FACT
My mum gave me a diary when I was 10 which I still use today. The front had a quote by Ghandi "Be the change you wish to see in the world" which I think is really important.
