What do you do?
I help solve data science oriented industry problems with my knowledge of Neural Networks and Natural Language Processing.
Why did you choose this field?
Growing up, I repetitively heard that women were not so technically affluent. Arts oriented domains were considered more suitable. Being a social studies or English teacher was a suggestion I frequently heard for my career. Somewhere I believed that too, till I discovered Python. Automation with Python triggered that tech keeda in me. All my social media handles are @ShambhaviCodes, subconsciously fighting off that tag of not being efficient at tech. And today, I have found my calling in Data Science!
What do you look at and think, "I wish younger me would have known this was possible"?
'Coding' itself is an achievement. Had I believed in myself and started earlier, I would be at a much higher pedestal today.
Why do you love working in STEM?
The feeling of creating something which will be used by many gives me the motivation to work. I love working in STEM because I feel empowered of creation. I wake up looking forward to being one of the most powerful Women In Tech of my country, India.
Best advice for next generation?
Don't hesitate, Don't think! If I can do it, you can to!
To break away from stereotypes, an initial spark is enough! Just rub yourself hard enough to light that spark.
