WHAT DO YOU DO?
I teach classes about how to use mathematics to understand biology. I also train graduate students how to do research in mathematical biology.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS FIELD?
I always liked math and biology. I studied math and then learned how to do research in biology.
WHAT DO YOU LOOK AT & THINK, "I WISH YOUNGER ME WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS WAS POSSIBLE?"
I wish I had known that I would be able to publish research on my own and find a position at a university that I love.
WHY DO YOU LOVE WORKING IN STEM?
I look forward to working with students every day. It is very rewarding. I love encouraging them to ask science questions and showing them how to use math to answer them.
BEST ADVICE FOR NEXT GENERATION?
