Associate, Advanced Risk Analytics, PwC
Know your worth and what you are capable of.
WHAT DO YOU DO?
I am a recent graduate from the University of Maryland, with a Masters in Information Management (specialized in Data Analytics). I joined PwC as an Associate in Advanced Risk Analytics department in September 2020.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS FIELD?
I have always been a curious person since childhood. My unusual but fitting observation of people and my surroundings always amazed everybody around me. I realised I can apply the same with Data as well. At work, I got to try my hand at improving end user experience by gathering more insights and analysing the current trends and features which further bolstered my interest. The process of gaining invaluable insights by leveraging technology and communicating the findings to all stakeholders, technical & non-technical, drove me to pursue my masters in the data analytics field. Looking forward to my journey at PwC in Advanced Analytics.
WHAT DO YOU LOOK AT & THINK, "I WISH YOUNGER ME WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS WAS POSSIBLE?"
“Be yourself. Do not care about what others think!”. I spent quite some time of my childhood and teen years worrying about what others thought or said which led to excessive worrying. Making a conscious effort to stop stop this habit made me realise that there is so much more to life! Choosing the right people in your circle is very important. If you ever find yourself self-doubting due to them, it's time to change your squad!
WHY DO YOU LOVE WORKING IN STEM?
I love that there is always something new happening which makes it challenging and so exciting. The opportunities are limitless as there is no boundary to what STEM can or will produce in the future. It's all in our hands! And that's what keeps me going.
BEST ADVICE FOR NEXT GENERATION?
Don't let anyone tell you 'You are in STEM because you are a woman'. Don't let anyone tell you that you do not deserve to be where you are. Know your worth and what you are capable of. Be proud of every little step you're making in the right direction. Keep going. You got this!
