What do you do?
Starting out as a minority women business, Suba started Sophus IT solutions as a single person company in Issaquah, Washington in 2009. Today, Sophus has 150 Engineers and serves brands such as Nordstrom, 20th Century Fox, Disney, Microsoft to name a few. In 2019, Suba channalise her efforts to sponsoring events for Girl students to code as well as form women in tech panels encouraging them to speak, thereby increasing the interest for women to come in and thrive into the STEM ecosystem.Biggest satisfaction is running an all women leadership team with great work and life opportunities for everyone in the Global Sophus family.
Why did you choose this field?
coming from conservative community from India I always curious to learn. I wanted to showcase the ability to acheive and thrive in the same industry where my family members pursued their career .
What do you look at and think, "I wish younger me would have known this was possible"?
While being a great career women, Suba has helped mentor many consultants who ended up working in Sophus , and others who got her recommendation to work in clients of Sophus.
Why do you love working in STEM?
To her engineering employees she is an advocate and has helped push clients like Microsoft, Nordstrom to hire her female consultants, always pushing the envelope on her concern for women in tech. In many cases, she has deployed a "try before you buy" model, where she invests Sophus money for initial 2 weeks where the client can try out her candidates. To the Industry and Community, Suba drives initiatives in partnership with Girls who code and Women based Tech forums like Rivetter to champion the cause of driving traffic into Women in Tech discussions and employments.
Best advice for next generation?
This is the field where there is constant new things and inventions .
